CCST STATEMENT ON CLOSURE OF RETAIL READY CAREER CENTER IN GARLAND, TEXAS
The following statement is from CCST Executive Director Jerry Valdez:
The Career Colleges and Schools of Texas (CCST) is extremely disheartened to learn of the abrupt closing of the Retail Ready Career Center in Garland and the displacement of hundreds of students, including a large number of military veterans.
Retail Ready Career Center is not a member of CCST and we do not condone the way the school’s closing was handled, including the lack of transparent communications and poor timing. We are proud of the commitment that career schools in our state and across the country have made to veterans and we do not want a short sighted decision by one campus to blemish the strong relationship we have forged with vets over the years.
The mission of career schools is to provide students with not only the opportunity for a lifelong career, but to use that career to change their lives. CCST has several member schools in the Garland/Dallas area that stand ready to help the Retail Ready students continue to pursue their career goals and dreams. You can find a list of schools in the area on our website (www.ccst.org) under the member tab.
